National Athletics Center Opening

During the Opening, the participants were also given access to the rooms where the competitors were preparing, which were otherwise closed to the public. "The queen of sports got her crown" – said Ádám Schmidt, State Secretary for Sport and Government Commissioner for the World Cup.

On Saturday 17 June, the National Athletics Centre and Recreation Park was officially inaugurated in Budapest with a family day, running races and entertainment. The National Athletics Centre, located on the left bank of the Danube on the northern part of Csepel Island, will be the main venue for the World Athletics Championships, which will take place in Budapest from 19-27 August, with more than 2,000 athletes from over 200 countries expected to take part. The opening day of the new facility on 17 June gave visitors a taste of the atmosphere of the competition and the capital's newest attraction.
